Welcome to the Cockeysville Lacrosse Program. Cockeysville Lacrosse is rich with tradition and history. Did you know that Cockeysville has produced more DI, DII & DIII All-Americans than any other rec program in the country?
You can be part of that tradition and history. We have opportunities for all ages and abilities!!!
2017 Vision & Message from the Board
Parents and Players:
The Cockeysville Boys Lacrosse Board is excited to share valuable information about our planning and vision for 2017.
Registration for our spring 2017 season is now open!
We are welcoming new leadership to the Board for 2017. The incoming program chair is Sean Kammer, and Joel Tolentino is a new board member. We are thankful that Joe Furnari is acting in an advisory role to ensure a smooth changeover.
Cockeysville Lacrosse is committed supporting a program for players of all age levels and abilities. This year we are focused on investing in our kids, our coaches, and our program. We will continue to support a program that provides our younger players with a positive experience and a solid introduction to lacrosse, while also providing a rewarding experience to our older players who are may also be involved with club or school teams.
Highlights for 2017
Coaching Support. Cockeysville lacrosse will be offering US Lacrosse Coaching certification for all coaches who want to learn and/or improve their coaching game. We will also be introducing “Coach the Coach” sessions to allow the seasoned coaches to share their best practices.
Equipment. Cockeysville Lacrosse is dedicated to upgrading equipment and investing in capital projects to enhance the entire rec league experience.
Player Development. Each age level program is being inspected for ways to bring more age-appropriate lacrosse to the boys. This means that for the youngest, we are looking to incorporate the US Lacrosse Athlete Development Model (LADM) to U6/U7 Lacrosse.
Pockets: Small-sided games (4v4) for more touches on smaller fields or perhaps half field efforts.
Clinic: For 2017, we are looking at involving other local rec leagues in an informal inter-league program. This will allow the boys to see more opponents. Practices are one night a week.
Tyker: This program will go all travel for 2017 and there will be no cuts. The boys will be sorted to a team of like ability (A,B,C). We will offer two practices and at least one game per week. All teams will play in at least one tournament.
Lightning: We hope to field two teams for this program. There will be two practices per week and one MYLA game per week. All teams will play in at least one tournament.
Midget & Junior: We are hoping to field one team at each age level with the same program elements as Lightning. Early registration will be the determining factor.
Costs. The registration cost for Pockets (Pre-K/K) is unchanged. Costs for the other divisions will minimally increase to support uniforms and additional tournament play for all age levels. There are multiple child discounts in place, as well as a family cost cap in place for 2017.
Uniforms. In the past Cockeysville Lacrosse has warehoused certain uniform elements and collected some jerseys at season end. For a variety of reasons including the loss of cage space, we are going to a different model for 2017. All uniforms will be the same top to bottom across all age levels. The only exception to this is Pockets where we will not purchase jerseys. We will use pinnies and/or existing jerseys to identify teams in Pockets. The downside to this is a more expensive cost of entry in 2017, however, if sized properly the uniforms should last two seasons, so it is likely that your cost for 2018 will be lower.
Tryouts. We are committed to moving tryouts up, perhaps even before Christmas. This will allow us to properly align Tyker and above age levels for MYLA and other competition. As in past years, Clinic and Pockets will not be sorted by ability.
To close, we are excited about the 2017 season. We need you to be just as excited and help us make your sons lacrosse experience the best it can be.
Register early, especially for Tyker/U9 and older. Do not wait until January. In fact, do not wait till December. Team alignments will happen as soon as possible.
Talk to your friends, and recruit. Playing experience does not matter. More boys is better for the league, the parents and the players.
Give us feedback. If you have an idea for improving any aspect of the league send it to us. Our email address is
