Stick With The Best

Welcome to the Cockeysville Lacrosse Program.  Cockeysville Lacrosse is rich with tradition and history.  Did you know that Cockeysville has produced more DI, DII & DIII All-Americans than any other rec program in the country?

You can be part of that tradition and history.  We have opportunities for all ages and abilities!!!

2018 Spring Message & Registration

It is that time again!  Spring Lacrosse is only a few months away and the Cockeysville Lacrosse board has been working hard to put the program in place for 2018.

We are happy to report that our fall indoor season has been a big success.  Our numbers year-over-year are up by about 50%.  We are hopeful this will translate into increased participation in spring lacrosse.

Club lacrosse continues to put pressure on participation at older age levels, but the board has designed the programs in a way that is club-friendly.   We have also designed in additional playing opportunities for rec only players that are looking for additional time on the field.

Sean Kammer and Joel Tolentino are returning for 2018 as the executive members of the Cockeysville Lacrosse Board.

In keeping with our plan, base costs for 2018 have been rolled back.  We have left family cost caps in place for families with multiple children in the program.  We have looked at other programs in the area and are confident that we have been able to price the cost of spring lacrosse at or below other programs of similar size while providing as much lacrosse as your son wants for spring 2018.

The biggest change for the 2018 season is in the uniform department. Participants in the 2018 program and beyond will purchase uniforms and/or uniform elements separately from the registration process.  If you participated in Cockeysville Lacrosse in 2017 at most age levels, then you may already have a usable uniform from that season that can be reused.  You may also choose to purchase additional uniform elements.  There are no changes to the basic uniform set for 2018.

Tryouts will be held for Tyker, Lightning, and Midget programs to determine team placement and proper alignment in their travel leagues.  We have secured time on Saturdays and Sundays at Meadowwood Park on the turf in January and February.  On weekends with mild weather we will be setting up skills and drills clinics for these age levels that will not only serve as a warm up for spring lacrosse, but also to help us align teams.  If we need to utilize an indoor facility to complete our evaluations we will do so and communicate accordingly.

Now we will discuss the individual programs…

Pockets U6

Pockets will remain a non-contact, coed program for 2018.   Costs for this program have been reduced to encourage participation.  There will be one practice on a weeknight, with one weekend practice/scrimmage in a small-sided format to increase the number of touches that each player gets on the ball.  The location of practice will most likely be Mays Chapel Elementary, but is subject to change.

Clinic  U7

The Clinic program will continue to build on the changes made in 2017.   There will be one practice a week for all teams, and one weekend game.   For 2018, we will continue to partner with other local rec leagues to provide an interleague format that will introduce more competition for the boys.  We are projecting 4 teams for 2018.  Practices will be held at Mays Chapel Elementary or Warren Place Park (TBD).

Tyker U9

Tyker will continue with an all-travel program for 2018.  We are projecting 3-4 teams.  Players will be assigned to teams based on ability and experience level and we will be placing teams in appropriate division in MYLA or CarBalCo Saturday league.  There may also be additional opportunities for Sunday play.  One tournament has been priced into the registration costs, and additional tournament play will be offered at an additional cost as the season develops. Practices will be at Padonia Elementary or County Home Park.

Lightning U11

Our program design for 2018 includes a lot of elements designed to maximize the  rec experience.   A fair number of players at the U11 Lightning level participate in club lacrosse, so the board has decided to make the program “Club-Friendly”.  This means that your son can still play Saturdays for the Rec and Sunday for their club team.

Additionally, non-club players (numbers allowing) will have the opportunity to play on Sunday.   Two practices a week will be offered for all Lightning players.  Practices will be held at County Home Park.  One tournament has been priced into the program, with additional opportunities offered at an additional cost as the season develops.

Midget U13

For 2018, we are looking to bring back U13 Midget to Cockeysville.  Early registration is absolutely critical for this program.  We will be looking to field one team at the U13 Midget level, and will be placed into the MYLA league for Saturday play and are even exploring Sunday play in the HarCo Sunday league.  One tournament has been priced into the program, with additional opportunities.    Two practices per week will be held at County Home Park.

To close, we are excited to open registration for the 2018 season. Early registration for all age levels is critical this year.  In order for us to be able to provide a full experience for the boys, you need to register your sons as soon as possible.  For Tyker, Lightning and Midget we are asking that you register before the end of the 2017 Calendar year.
